Give the whole table one reading
A boat entering the Scatter lane brings the next event into play. Choose a reader to announce the entire card before anyone acts, then put its marker in the shared centre as a reminder that the condition now applies.
Keep that marker on display until the clearing condition is met at a Bonus Dock or lighthouse route space. Remove the cleared condition from the active area and return to the usual order of play.
Three examples of a shared change
Fog Bank changes the table’s pace: every boat pauses at the next open buoy and the group chooses a new reading order. Explain it to all crews together, because it is a common condition rather than a penalty assigned privately.
For Big Wave, shift every token one route mark and then take one response card for the group. Bright Gull instead permits a visible score chip to be exchanged for a dock preview. These examples retain the concept’s original effects.
Hear the complete effect before acting
Do not begin moving pieces halfway through an announcement. Once the reader has finished, apply the stated effect where each crew can follow the changes. Shared movement is easiest to verify when the table watches the same action unfold.
When recollections disagree, bring the original card back into the discussion. Read the disputed phrase aloud, agree what it asks and calmly repeat the uncertain action. Keeping two private interpretations would make the following turn harder to settle.
